Wild Hearts - Suffolk Horse

from £395.00

The Suffolk is Britain's oldest native heavy horse breed — and one of its most critically endangered. Every Suffolk alive today traces its bloodline to a single stallion born in 1768. That lineage, unbroken for over two and a half centuries, is now hanging by a thread. Fewer than 300 breeding mares remain worldwide.

This portrait was made during the Wild Hearts project — six years documenting our rare native horse breeds in the UK. I wanted to capture what is so often missed in photographs of heavy horses — the intelligence, the sensitivity, the quiet dignity behind all that power.

This is not just a horse. This is living history.

Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag with natural deckle edges, float mounted to reveal the full character of the paper, hand signed, numbered, and packaged by me before it leaves for its new home.
