Each month I release one new print to a small circle of collectors. Never listed publicly. Never reprinted.

The Collectors Circle

“This is my little corner of the internet where I share what happens between the finished pieces, updates from the studio, news from the field, the work in progress and the stories behind it.”

I'm Esther Towler, a British fine art photographer working in photography, cyanotype and Van Dyke Brown. My six year monograph, Wild Hearts, documents all thirteen of Britain's rare native horse breeds, published in 2025 with the support of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust and shown at the Glasgow Gallery of Photography.

The Collectors Circle is my little corner of the internet where I share what happens between the finished pieces, updates from the studio, news from the field, the work in progress and the stories behind it.

As a member, each month you'll receive first access to a new limited edition print, an edition of just 10, at £75, never listed publicly and never reprinted. You'll also get early access to work before it's released, personal invitations to open studio events and exhibitions, and occasional small gifts from my practice, because some things are better experienced than described.

horses of the SEA…

This MONTH'S Circle Print: Sea Horse

There's an old belief in the Camargue that these horses were born of the sea itself, foaled from the foam where the Rhône meets the Mediterranean, belonging to no one. Locals call them the horses of the sea.

This print holds that moment. A white horse caught mid-gallop through the shallows, mane lifting, water breaking around its legs. Cyanotype felt like the only true way to capture it, the process folds horse, water and sky into a single blue, so the image dissolves the line between the two entirely.

Sea Horse is the first piece in a new collection following the semi-wild white horses of southern France, a thread that sits alongside my ongoing work with Britain's native breeds.
