Elemental: Saddleworth Moor
-
Travelling across Britain for six years photographing rare native horse breeds, I found myself drawn deeper and deeper into the wild landscapes they inhabit. The horses brought me to the moor. The moor never let me go.
A year-long exploration on Saddleworth Moor, capturing the seasonal transformation of this wild Pennine landscape through cyanotype.
Four large-scale works anchor the series — Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter — each created on-site using that season's natural light and moorland water. These expansive pieces establish the moor's character across the year: awakening, abundance, decay, and dormancy.
Surrounding these are intimate botanical studies made from plants gathered during each visit. Cotton grass, heather, bracken, sedges — each specimen washed in peat bog water from the moor itself. The ancient chemistry of the peat interacts with light-sensitive emulsion to create unique tonal variations that can never be exactly replicated.
Exposed outdoors using natural sunlight, every piece is subject to whatever conditions the moor offers that day — storm, wind, rain, or sun. Rain marks left on prints aren't mistakes; they're collaboration. These aren't images of the moor. They are the moor — plants, water, light, weather, and time embedded in paper.
A surrender to place. A document of impermanence. A seasonal portrait made by the land itself.

Original Cyanotype prints
Each work in the Elemental series is a unique original — made on Saddleworth Moor using the moor's own plants, water and light. The same piece can never be exactly remade. A small selection of works are currently available, as this collection is being held toward a solo exhibition where the complete series will be released for the first time. Once a work finds a home, it is gone — there is no edition, no reprint.
These originals are available to collectors directly, and selected works are available for commercial placement with architects, interior designers and brands. If you are interested in owning an original, or would like to discuss sizing or availability, I'd love to hear from you.
For those who want to come closer.
The Collectors Circle is where I share what happens between the finished pieces — work in progress, stories from the field, notes from the studio, and the first sight of new work before it reaches anywhere else.
This is not a marketing list. It is a small, quiet circle of people who care about the work — and I treat it that way.
As a member, you will receive:
The full gallery price list — all available works, all sizes, all editions, sent directly to you. Pricing is not displayed publicly; this is how collectors access it.
A print of the month — each month, one image is made available exclusively to Collectors Circle members in a small limited edition, at a members price. It is never offered publicly and never reprinted. Once the edition is sold, it is gone.
First access to new work — every new piece or edition is offered to members before it is announced publicly, and always at the opening price. As editions sell, prices rise — being on the list simply makes sense.
Private exhibition invitations — personal invitations to open studio events, previews and exhibitions, with first option to acquire before public opening.
