Lost Ponies
About this project
A sister project to Wild Hearts, Lost Ponies explores the fragility and impermanence of Britain's rare native horse breeds through abstract equine photography and photo-encaustic art. This body of work imagines a future where these ancient breeds exist only as ethereal traces - imprints of spirit left upon the British landscape after they are gone. Each piece combines intentional camera movement (ICM photography) with traditional photo-encaustic techniques, embedding the photographic image in layers of natural beeswax. The encaustic originals are then carefully rephotographed to capture the unique textures, luminosity, and depth created by the beeswax layers. These rephotographed images are printed as limited edition fine art prints on archival paper, preserving the dreamlike quality and tactile beauty of the original encaustic work. The result is a series of ethereal, abstract equine portraits that evoke memory, loss, and the haunting beauty of Britain's rarest native ponies. The layered process - from ICM photography to encaustic creation to rephotography - creates unique textures and luminous, earthy tones that give each piece a timeless, soulful quality. This work invites contemplation of what we stand to lose if these rare breeds disappear, while celebrating their enduring spirit and connection to the wild British landscapes they have inhabited for centuries. Limited edition archival prints available by enquiry.

Prints from the Lost Ponies series are archival pigment prints on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, available in limited editions. Works from this series are also available for commercial licensing for architects, interior designers and brands. To enquire about a specific work, discuss sizes and framing, or explore licensing, please get in touch.
These prints exist in an edition of 25. Once those twenty-five are sold, that image is retired permanently — no reprints, no exceptions. As each print sells within the edition, the price increases — early collectors always acquire at the most favourable price. Several editions in this series are already selling. If you are interested in owning a print, I'd love to hear from you.
For those who want to come closer.
The Collectors Circle is where I share what happens between the finished pieces — work in progress, stories from the field, notes from the studio, and the first sight of new work before it reaches anywhere else.
This is not a marketing list. It is a small, quiet circle of people who care about the work — and I treat it that way.
As a member, you will receive:
The full gallery price list — all available works, all sizes, all editions, sent directly to you. Pricing is not displayed publicly; this is how collectors access it.
A print of the month — each month, one image is made available exclusively to Collectors Circle members in a small limited edition, at a members price. It is never offered publicly and never reprinted. Once the edition is sold, it is gone.
First access to new work — every new piece or edition is offered to members before it is announced publicly, and always at the opening price. As editions sell, prices rise — being on the list simply makes sense.
Private exhibition invitations — personal invitations to open studio events, previews and exhibitions, with first option to acquire before public opening.
Some things are better experienced than described.
